QuickBooks Pro 2014 (Software) It's forcing me to rate it . I cant really rate on how it works because now i need a new computer to use QB Pro 2014.. I was told by my accountant to upgrade to QB 2014 since he can not work with the program that is older then 2012. I am currently using QB Pro 2011 for my auto repair shop. I have been using Intuit since 1997. I tried to install it on my Main computer. It told me I need 1 GB. I was reading the requirements & it said vista , windows 7 & 8 etc. So since I am still on windows XP , I can not run QB 2014. So not happy now, I was really excited to upgrade now its costing me way more money that I don't have.
This product AND company are the worst I have ever encountered in 50 years of working with software. The product (I was forced to upgrade due to typical Intuit lack of backward compatibility with payroll) stinks. I am now on my second round of bugs. Initially the sync manager would not work. I found out that my backups (with their backup server), an add-on that I paid for were not working with the "new" version. Fortunately I had not had a crash but for months I was without any backups. "Customer service" seemed really, really unconcerned about this and wondered why I cared since I had not had a crash. Their only response was that I could "upgrade" to their new improved backup service.
BalasHapusAfter they supposedly fixed this a couple of months ago, their mailing service ceased to work and customers have not received mailed bills for a couple of months. The help viewer crashes the system. The interface to stamps.com does not work.
Their tech support is a total farce. While they do answer the phone (usual call center in India / Pakistan / Timbuktu) it is as if you are dealing with 15 different companies. One hand quite literally does not know what the other is doing. You are constantly referred to some other division. It seems as if there is no one who knows the product as a whole and the best that they can do is talk you through some lame script that they are given. While it is apparent that there are good people there, the management has structured things so a customer with a finite lifetime has a .0001% chance of getting through to one of those people.
Last but not least, operation of the product (when it does work and does not crash) subjects one to an endless bombardment of up-sell ads. If the product were free, these ads would be acceptable. In the case of a product that was purchased they most certainly are not.
My feeling is that Intuit was once a good company and had a good product -- I have been using it for 10 years. It has steadily gotten worse and worse due to greed and mismanagement. I have stuck with it just because of inertia but I'm afraid it is time to move on....

Here are the reasons: 1) It is true that the software is mostly intuitive, but not always. 2) I had purchased the PLUS option with unlimited support. However, the support hours are very limited. Every time I call, there is a 30-60 minute wait. They don't even allow us to schedule a call back. This means we have to hold the call for a very long time. 3) there is no easy way to communicate by e-mail. 4) Some of the tech support people, although friendly, had very poor communication skills. 5) simple corrections in "My Account" profile had to be called in. There is no way to make these corrections yourself. The tech support people did not have the authority to make any changes. So they submit the requested changes to admin. Most promises are never kept. It just does not happen. My company name and primary contact are still wrong after 6 requests. There are two names on the contact list, whom I have never known. No one can remove these names. 6) Quickbooks Pro does not allow you to create Purchase Orders or debit memos, just invoices and credit memos.This is cheating in my opinion.

After that, I have sent three different e-mails to Corie suggesting the time for calling. This person is NOT serious. He just goes through the motion. His words don't mean anything. I'm running the most recent version of Quicken (2013), so you'd figure this is a use case they would have tested before making such a claim. When I use the conversion utility in QB, it tells me that my file is too old and I need to run an external conversion utility first. It points me to a webpage. When I go to the webpage, it has me download the converter for the version of QB (2014). However that utility errors out telling me I'm running a pre-release version of Quicken 2014 (for which I am not! I'm running their latest 2013). On a hunch, I suspected the webpage was wrong and I was supposed to download the converter that corresponded to the version of quicken, not quickbooks. When using the 2013 QB converter, it completed the conversion without error.
However, QB still did not accept the file and it pointed me back at the webpage.
Upon contacting support (on Oct 3rd, 7pm PST), I was by the automated attendant the wait time was 45 mins!!!). Fortunately my call was answered in about 20 mins. So expect poor customer service response times with their support. I was told by the support person that I needed to send my file into a conversion team for processing. I laughed at them. The whole point of running desktop accounting software instead of the online version is because I do not trust my data floating around on some random server. Quicken files contain account numbers, credit card numbers, bank info and other highly sensitive information. Especially with an American company under the jurisdiction of the NSA and FISA courts. While they may all "try" to secure my data, I don't need a rogue employee or contractor like E. Snowden working for either Intuit or the govt to walk off with my data on a USB drive. Fix the converter Intuit!
So in summary:
1. QB does not import from the latest version of Quicken as they claim they do. FAIL.
2. Support webpage the application points to is incorrect. It should enumerate Quicken versions, not QB versions (http://support.quickbooks.intuit.com/Support/Articles/HOW16287) FAIL.
3. Customer support is a godawful wait. FAIL.
4. Intuit tells me the only way to use the product is if I send them my most sensitive information -- defeating the whole purpose of desktop vs cloud software. FAIL.
I plan to return this shortly.

BalasHapusIntuit forces you to upgrade every three years in order not to lose features you already had. This is the equivalent of if you had a GE fridge, and after three years, they purposely shut off ice maker so you have to buy a new fridge.
Thumbs down to Intuits business model
I have used QB for our small law firm for several years. The latest version was QB Pro 2011 w/a subscription for enhanced payroll and protect data. We purchased a new bookkeeping computer so I decided to upgrade to QB Pro 2014. No problem w/the download and my saved data and subscriptions from the earlier version transitioned smoothly. A good price here on amazon and your download is saved. Also, I could breathe a sigh of relief that I didn't need to call QB tech support for any reason since you all know what that's like....
BalasHapusQuickBooks Pro 2014 (Software) First let me start by saying I like QuickBooks. I've used it over 15 years. But there customer service keeps getting worse and worse. I was on the phone for over 10 hours one day. 2 hours another, one hour another and problem is still not fixed. They upgraded my QuickBooks 2012 to new 2014 plus because they said it would solve my issue. We still haven't had issue solved yet. We were told on two separate occasions they would call back and they never did. Our QuickBooks crashes when we email invoice and mail invoice through their mailing service. Now they're telling me 2014 does not work with their mailing service (which was the whole reason they told us to upgrade in the first place). Whatever you do keep your old QuickBooks if you like it don't upgrade until they fix all the glitches. Check out other forums on the net.
BalasHapusIt amazes me that when QuickBooks comes out with a new version there are new features that I want or think my clients could use. Some examples in QuickBooks 2014 are: If your customer bounces a check, you can use the new Bounced Check icon to reduce the bank account for the amount of the bounced check and fee, put the original invoice back into receivables and create an invoice to the customer for the bounced check fee. Basically a couple of clicks and that's done. Another new feature that will be helpful to small businesses is an Income Tracker. This feature has been in QuickBooks Online, but Intuit brought it to the desktop. The Money Bar that goes across the top of the page shows you unbilled transactions (i.e. estimates), unpaid transactions and recently paid transactions. You can easily take action on transactions in a batch or individually all from this customer command center called the Income Tracker. Other new features: email improvements, adding sales reps to jobs instead of just customers and improved bank feeds.

We recently installed the 2014 version. Initially we had some installation problems. One of our staff members had to spend on the phone waiting for someone to pickup the call for 2 hours and 30 minutes. As I am writing this review I am waiting now 47 minutes and counting. Someone picked up the phone after 27 minutes and told me I need another department. He transferred my call and I am still waiting. Who will pay for loss of work for so many hours. What good is a great product if you can't get service. Every year we spend good money to purchase the latest version. I personally wouldn't do that except that they don't give you support if you don't pay for the upgrades. But then - what support?
BalasHapusIt didn't use to be that way, but we are beginning to think about an alternative. It is now, BTW 54 minutes on the phone without being able to speak to anyone.
Having used QuickBooks for the past 5 years I find that the newest version has so much more to help a small or large business. Everything you need is at the click of the mouse, what's coming in, whats going out, projecting your budget better and best of all track your income so much easier... knowing whats coming in when, where and from who. Posting payments, paid by cash? check? credit card? I love this feature. Tracking emails sent, adding multiple attachments to an email. It doesn't get any better than this.
